As people with altered abilities are becoming more integrated into our communities, they are also becoming more aware of their own challenges and interests. While it has always been difficult to place people with altered abilities into employment, finding meaningful opportunities for this population remains a growing obstacle. As with the population in general, this community remains diverse and yet education and training are geared towards a narrow slice of skill sets and personality traits.
At the same time, as climate change becomes more topical, people of all walks of life are beginning to ask themselves what they can do to start to reverse the effects of our current practices. They are beginning to ask how we can make meaningful changes to ensure the health of our planet for future generations. Expectations are that the organic land care industry will grow over time as people seek to remove chemical pesticides and synthetic fertilizers from their environment and restore healthy soil.
Providing training and certification to people with altered abilities will provide meaningful work in a growing industry for years to come. It has the potential to make this population self-sufficient while growing their self-esteem and filling future gaps in the workforce. Full Circle Earth is committed to building a program to address this ever growing need.

How You Can Become Involved
POTENTIAL EMPLOYERS: Are you a landscaping company, a greenhouse manager, a grounds keeper, or someone who just has a backyard garden and would be interested in hiring someone with altered abilities to help out around the yard? We want to interview you. Email Sarah Nastasi at [email protected].
POTENTIAL PARTICIPANTS: We are looking to develop a certification program as an organic land care worker. If you are a person with disability, or a parent, guardian or organization that works with people with altered abilities, we would like to talk with you. We are working on a pilot program for 2021, but in the meantime, we will have volunteer opportunities for this population. If you have any interest, please email Sarah Nastasi at [email protected].
